Note: I am writing about Bipolar Disorder in hopes that it may help someone or at least give them morale support.
Bipolar disorder or as they used to call it, "manic-depressive," is now portrayed in the media as some kind of uncontrollable defect. I can tell you from personal experience that the current trend of bipolar bashing is unwarranted. Bipolar's reach extreme highs and deep lows. Unlike most people, bipolar's may stay in these "episodes" for weeks or even longer if left without medical and/or psychological support. This shouldn't be confused with depression which is also a serious condition, but it can be treated whereas, bipolar disorder cannot be cured.
If you have read this far than you know my family has struggled with bipolar disorder for generations and lost, however, with proper therapy and new med's, it is possible to enjoy a normal episode resistant life. I am bipolar and with the help from my wife, my doctor, stabilizing med's, and the support of my Church, I am under control...most of the time. I still have manic episodes that are usually caused by the lack of sleep.
